Project Helping Boards of Directors

Project Helping’s Board of Directors play an integral part in impacting our community and shaping our future.

The Commitment

Details

Board Members can expect Project Helping to:

  • Provide the necessary resources, information, and training for Board Members to carry out duties and enthusiastically and accurately represent Project Helping.
  • Allow Board Members to share talents, skills, and areas of expertise for the organization’s good.
  • Be respectful of Board Members’ time.
  • Provide staff support for special events and activities.
  • Provide periodic updates on Project Helping.
  • Upon request, provide timely access to any documents, historical, financial, marketing, etc.

Project Helping considers donor stewardship and fundraising to be a team effort involving staff, volunteers, board members, and other advocates. We seek a sense of community and shared responsibility around these efforts. In doing so, we embrace and value each person’s differing strengths and gifts.

Board of Directors

Board Term: Board Members serve two-year terms and can serve multiple terms in succession.

  • Attend 80% or more of all board meetings.
    • Meetings occur every other month and last approximately 90 minutes. 
    • Notify the board and CEO if you can not attend.
  • Anticipate and prepare to provide 1-5 hours of service per month, on average.
  • Participate in at least one working group per year.
    • Meeting frequency varies and is determined by the working group members.
  • I will make a personally significant monetary donation for each year I serve on the board.
  • As part of the “Give & Get” policy, I will secure additional donations/sponsorships of $2,500/year in value by way of corporate, matching, in-kind, or individual gifts.
  • Attend two fundraising events per year
    • Spring and fall fundraising events.
    • Provide outreach to my network to also attend the fundraising events.
  • Serve as a passionate advocate for Project Helping, its mission, staff, and programming.

Associate Board of Directors

Associate Board Term: Associate Board Members serve two-year terms and can serve multiple terms in succession. 

  • Attend 80% or more of all board meetings.
    • Meetings occur every other month and last approximately 90 minutes.  
    • Notify the board and CEO if you can not attend.
  • Anticipate and prepare to provide 1-5 hours of service per month, on average, of service.
  • Participate in at least one working group per year.
    • Meet frequency varies and is determined by the working group members.
  • I will make a personally significant monetary donation for each year that I am on the board.
  • As part of the “Give & Get” policy, I will secure additional donations/sponsorships of $1,000 per year by way of corporate, matching, in-kind, or individual gifts.
  • Attend two fundraising events per year.
    • Spring and fall fundraising events. 
    • Provide outreach to my network to also attend the fundraising events.
  • Serve as a passionate advocate for Project Helping, its mission, staff, and programming.

The Board of Directors members serve two year terms but they can serve multiple consecutive terms. Board Members are responsible for voting on formal matters, setting the strategic direction of the organization, and providing leadership to the CEO and staff of Project Helping.

The board consists of members who generally have previous board experience or have successfully served a term on Project Helping's Associate Board.

The Associate Board consists of members who may have little to no previous board experience but are passionate about Project Helping's mission and may want to join the Board of Directors in the future.
