Gratitude Practice

Let's start by taking a moment to practice gratitude.
  • What is one thing you are grateful for that you might otherwise take for granted before building this kyndkit?

  • Self-care and personal hygiene are directly related to less illness and better overall health. What is one thing you do on a regular basis to take care of yourself and how does that help your mood?

The Recipient

For people experiencing homelessness, basic essentials can make a huge difference. This kit is designed to build dignity bags to hand out when you see someone who could use it. There are an estimated 553,742 people in the United States experiencing homelessness on a given night, according to the most recent national point-in-time estimate. This represents a rate of approximately 17 people experiencing homelessness per 10,000 people in the general population.

The Reason

The most basic needs can make a world of difference to those experiencing homelessness. By making a dignity bag you can impact someone with a meaningful, thoughtful action.

Step 1: Unpack the Box

  • Take everything out of the box
  • Lay everything out in groups sorted by item type

Step 2: Find the Kynd Card

This is for you to spread extra kyndness to someone in your own life.  Consider writing a note to a friend, loved one, or colleague that you are grateful for.  Address the note and send it in the mail or give it to someone in person.

DO NOT include this in the finished kit.

Step 3: Find your DIY Activities

  • Set up a customization table and complete the following DIY activities.
    • Have all of your decorating supplies ready. Crayons, pens, markers, stickers, etc.
    • The DIY activities in this X kit are a card and envelope, canvas bag, and plastic bags.
Completed Kynd Kits go all over the world. As you customize your kit, please refrain from using any religion or political content.
