Gratitude Practice

Let's start by taking a moment to practice gratitude.
  • What is something unique, special, or extraordinary about yourself?

  • List 3 people in your life that have had the most positive influence on you and how.

The Recipient

This Kynd Kit is designed for you to keep to help reduce stress and anxiety, create positive mental health coping tools, and provide resources to support you when you may be struggling.

The Reason

This kit is designed to support positive mental wellness.  The items in this kit were chosen by our Youth Advisory Council, made up of teens from diverse backgrounds, to support the mental wellness of fellow teens, like you, when life seems a little too hard.

Unpack the Box

  • Take everything out of the box.
  • Lay everything out so you can find what you need to build the kit.

Find the Kynd Card

This is for you to spread extra kyndness to someone in your own life. Consider writing a note to a friend, loved one, or family member that you are grateful for.  Address the note and send it in the mail or give it to someone in person.

DO NOT include this in the finished kit.

Write a Note to the Future You

1. Find the following items:
  • Blank card and matching envelope
  • Enclosed materials such as crayons, markers, stickers, etc.
2. Write a letter to your future self. Remind yourself of something really important and valuable. Life can be crazy a lot of the time. And the most meaningful things and dreams to you might slip out of your mind – being pushed to the back burner. This letter will help you remember what is important to you.

Decorate the Canvas Bag

1. Find the following items:
  • Canvas Bag

  • Markers

2. Decorate the canvas bag:
  • Use the enclosed markers to decorate the bag.

  • Make this  fun and colorful.

*Can’t think of what to write, draw a picture!

*Helpful tip: Place a piece of paper or cardboard in the bag before decorating to prevent the marker from bleeding through.

3. Pack fidget toys in this and keep in your backpack to take out when you are feeling anxious.

Surprise Kyndness

1. Find the following items:
  • Journal
  • Writing materials
2. Decorate the journal
  • Decorate the front, back, inside front and inside back cover of the journal with a picture or uplifting message.
  • Use random pages in the journal to write short uplifting messages, draw small colorful images, or create fun writing prompts for yourself.

Create a Friendship Bracelet

Find the three different color strings and grab a pair of scissors.

Pack the Kit

Pack this kit into your backpack to pull out when you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stressed. Take the time to journal, remember what you are grateful for, fidget, reach out to resources, and read the encouraging letting your wrote to yourself. Remember you are not alone, you are enough, and you are stronger than you think.
