Real Options for City Kids (R.O.C.K.) is an award-winning nonprofit that provides positive opportunities for children in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley community. The mission of R.O.C.K. is to nurture the healthy development of children by listening attentively to their needs and by providing opportunities to those who might not otherwise have access. We serve over 900 participants (K-8) each year with a framework that develops healthy social and emotional skills, instills strong academic behaviors, and broadens horizons. As the lead nonprofit partner for all public schools in our community, we work with school administrators to align with their vision and fill gaps in programming. As a result, our year-round programs take place during the school day, after school, on weekends, and throughout the summer and include academic support, learning enrichment, sports and recreation, outdoor education, and leadership development.
