Gratitude Practice

Let's start by taking a moment to practice gratitude.
  • When you were a teenager, think about the most helpful resource or mentor in your life that made you feel supported.  

  • What is one thing you learned as a teenager that has stuck with you throughout life?

The Recipient

This kit is designed with Charles Schwab and the Boys and Girls Club of America to help teens reduce stress and anxiety, create positive mental health coping tools, gain financial confidence, and give them support when they might be struggling. 

The Reason

This kit is designed to be given to a teen to support positive mental wellness and financial confidence.

  • Lay everything out so you can find what you need to build the kit.

Create Your Kynd Code

Register Your Kit to Follow It's Journey

1. Locate the QR Code serial number on your Kynd Kit
  • If you have a classic kit, it will be located on the plastic bag inside the kit
  • If you have Plus or Max kit, it will be located on the inside of the box. 
2. Go to kit registration page 
  • If you are using your phone, open your camera and scan the QR code
  • If you are using your computer, click this link below and enter the serial number listed below the QR code
    • Code starts with KK

3. Register your kit
  • Fill out the requested fields 
  • By providing this information, you will be notified when your kit is returned to Project Helping and when it is distributed to those in need 

*We will not use your information for anything besides notifying you of your Kynd Kit progress. 

4. When you have completed registering your kit, please return to this page to continue building your kit. 
5. Please ensure you include your QR serial code when returning your kit so we can scan it when we receive it.
6. You can visit kyndkit.org at any time to check the status of your Kynd Kit. 
 

Find the Kynd Card

This is for you to spread extra kyndness to someone in your own life. Consider writing a note to a friend, loved one, or colleague that you are grateful for.  Address the note and send it in the mail or give it to someone in person.

DO NOT include this in the finished kit.

Completed Kynd Kits go all over the world. As you customize your kit, please refrain from using any religion or political content.

Write a Note to the Recipient

1. Find the following items:
  • Blank card and matching envelope
  • Enclosed materials such as crayons, markers, stickers, etc.
2. Write your letter and decorate the envelope.
  • Use the enclosed materials to write a letter and decorate the envelope.
    • Express your encouragement and include a hopeful message.
      • Helpful Tips:
        • Do not include a date or year on the letter.
        • Avoid politics completely and religion in excess.
        • Use appropriate humor 

*Can’t think of what to write, draw a picture!

3. Put the completed card in the envelope you decorated. 
  • Include the Kynd Code sheet with the card
  • Please DO NOT lick the envelope shut

Decorate the Plastic Bag

1. Find the following items:
  • Write-on plastic bag
  • Permanent markers
2. Decorate the plastic bag.
  • The plastic bag is designed to be written on. 
  • Use the enclosed markers to write an encouraging message or draw a picture on the white panel on the plastic bag.

*This is what the final kit will be distributed in, make this fun and colorful for the recipient to open.

Decorate the Canvas Bag

1. Find the following items:
  • Canvas Bag

  • Markers

2. Decorate the canvas bag:
  • Use the enclosed markers to decorate the tote.

  • Make the canvas tote fun and colorful.

    *Can’t think of what to write, draw a picture!

*Helpful tip: Place a piece of paper or cardboard in the bag before decorating to prevent the marker from bleeding through.

Surprise Kyndness

1. Find the following items:
  • Journal
  • Writing materials
2. Decorate the journal.
  • Decorate the front, back, inside front and inside back cover of the journal with a picture or uplifting message. 
  • Use random pages in the journal to write short uplifting messages, draw small colorful images, or create fun writing prompts for the recipient.

Create a Friendship Bracelet

 

Find the three different color strings and grab a pair of scissors. 

 

DIY Magnets

1. Find the following items:
  • Square white cards
  • Magnet dots
  • Crayons or colored pencils
2. Decorate the magnets with affirmations

 *Do not use washable markers or whiteboard markers! It will rub off.

  • Some good examples of affirmations include:
    • You are strong. You are brave. You are worthy. 
    • I am enough. 
    • The point of life is growth, not perfection.
    • I choose to see my life through a lens of gratitude. 
    • Your voice matters. 
    • Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love. 
    • My potential to succeed is limitless. 
    • Make today beautiful.
3. When done, stick one magnet dot to the back of each square card

DIY Stress Ball

1. Find the following items:
  • Three balloons
  • Two Play Dohs
  • Scissors (not provided)
2. Combine both Play-Dohs.
  • Take the Play-Dohs out of the containers.
  • Roll both Play Dohs into one large ball.
3. Cut the stem off of one of the balloons.
4. Take the ball of Play-Doh that you just created and insert it into the balloon that you just cut the stem off of.
5. Add a second balloon layer.
  • Cut the stem off of a second balloon.
  • Stretch the balloon over the ball in the opposite direction of the first balloon.
6. Final balloon layer.
  • Do not cut the stem off of the third balloon.
  • Stretch the third balloon over the ball.
7. Tie a knot in the stem of the balloon.
8. Cut off the excess stem of the balloon.
  • You now have a completed stress ball! Good work!

Pack the Kit

  • Pack the decorated plastic bag with all the decorated items, fidget toys and resource guides
  • Make sure the Kynd Code is included.
  • Please only include items that are UNUSED and UNOPENED. 
  • Add any optional items.
  • Playing cards
  • Post it notes
  • Fidget toys
  • Please only include items that are UNOPENED and UNUSED

Items not to include:

  • Perishable items
  • Sharp objects
  • Nut food products
  • Religious or political items
  • Alcohol

Delivery Options

  • Return your completed kit to Project Helping to distribute to Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
