At Allstate’s Dallas University Grand Opening, 150 volunteers built 150 Back to School Backpack kits for students supported by United Way of Metropolitan Dallas.
How it worked
This was an in-person build, self-hosted by the Allstate team using Project Helping’s facilitator guide and printed kit instructions. Each volunteer worked from their own individual kit, assembling a complete Back to School Backpack start to finish. Kits shipped ready to build, with everything included and nothing to customize. A Project Helping program manager set up the program in advance, confirmed timing, and made sure the kits arrived in time for the grand opening. Once the backpacks were finished, the Allstate team handled distribution themselves, delivering the kits directly into their community. After the event, Allstate received an impact report, and each kit carried a registration code so volunteers could track where their backpack ended up.

The finished backpacks went to United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, supporting students headed back to school. A day meant to mark a new office opening also gave 150 kids a stocked backpack for the year ahead. If your team has a milestone worth marking, a Kynd Kit build is a way to bring people together and send something useful out into the community at the same time.
