Allstate volunteers in Charlotte, NC came together on July 30, 2026 to build 50 Back to School Backpack kits. The kits went to CVAN Cabarrus Victims Assistance Network.
How it worked
The team ran the two hour build in person and self-hosted the session using Project Helping’s facilitator guide and printed kit instructions. Each volunteer assembled an individual kit from their own boxed materials. Project Helping’s program manager set up the program, coordinated kit shipping, and found and confirmed CVAN Cabarrus Victims Assistance Network as the recipient ahead of time. Once the backpacks were finished, they went directly to the nonprofit partner, so there was no need for the team to arrange delivery themselves. Allstate also received an impact report after the event, and each kit carries a registration code so builders can see where their work ended up.
The finished backpacks now go to families served by CVAN Cabarrus Victims Assistance Network, giving kids the school supplies they need for the year ahead. Any team looking for a straightforward, self-hosted way to give back can run a program like this one.
