150 employees from Allstate’s Controller Connections team built 300 Kynd Kits during a team meeting at THE MART in Chicago. The group put together 150 Mental Health Care kits and 150 Teacher Appreciation kits in a two hour session on September 15, 2026.
How it worked
This was an in-person team meeting, self-hosted by the Allstate team using Project Helping’s facilitator guide and printed kit instructions. Each volunteer assembled individual kits at their own station, working through the steps for either the Mental Health Care kit or the Teacher Appreciation kit. Project Helping’s program manager set up the program, confirmed the timeline, and shipped all 300 kits to THE MART with everything needed to build. Project Helping also found and confirmed the nonprofit recipient ahead of time and arranged for the finished kits to move straight from the event to that partner, so the Allstate team didn’t have to manage drop-off or transport.

Finished kits went directly to BUILD Chicago. The Mental Health Care kits offer comfort and coping tools to people navigating mental health challenges, and the Teacher Appreciation kits recognize local teachers for their work in the classroom. Teams looking to build something similar during a regular meeting or off-site can run their own Kynd Kit program with the same kind of support.
