Allstate Volunteers Build 100 Unhoused Support Bags

August 5, 2026 Allstate

Fifty Allstate volunteers came together in person to build 100 Unhoused Support Bags for people served by Care for Friends. The team ran the session themselves and put together every kit by hand.

How it worked

This was a self-hosted, in-person build using individual kits, so each volunteer assembled a complete bag from their own kit rather than working an assembly line. A Project Helping program manager set up the program and confirmed the details ahead of the build. The kits arrived with everything needed, along with facilitator guides and step-by-step instructions, so the Allstate team had what it needed to run the session without outside support. Once the bags were finished, the team distributed them directly, handling that last step themselves rather than shipping kits back to Project Helping.

The finished bags went to Care for Friends, supporting people experiencing homelessness with items they can use right away. Programs like this show how a team can run its own build day, start to finish, once the kits show up ready to go. If your team is looking for a project with a clear cause and a straightforward format, a Kynd Kit program can fit into a single in-person session.
