Amazon employees built 76 Toys for Shelter Animals kits during an in-person volunteer event. Each kit gives a dog or cat in a shelter something to play with while they wait for a home.
How it worked
The team ran the build themselves, using a Project Helping intro video to kick things off before getting to work. Each builder assembled an individual kit from their own kit materials, no assembly line required. Project Helping shipped all 76 kits to the team with everything needed to build, along with printed instructions so the group could run the session without a live facilitator. Once the kits were finished, the team shipped them back to Project Helping using prepaid labels. From there, Project Helping delivers finished kits to nonprofits in its recipient network, so the team didn’t have to source a placement themselves.
The finished toys will reach shelter animals through Project Helping’s nonprofit network, giving them something to play with during their stay. Teams looking for a straightforward, self-hosted build with a clear cause can run a program like this one.
