30 volunteers from BeOne Medicines built 50 Chemo Care kits for people going through chemo. The team built in person, running the session themselves with the help of a Project Helping intro video.
How it worked
Project Helping’s program manager set up the program and confirmed the details ahead of time. Materials arrived in bulk for a production line build, with each station adding one part to the kits. The team played the Project Helping intro video to open the session, then ran the rest of the build on their own using the facilitator guide and printed instructions that shipped with the kits. No customization was added, so the kits stayed standard. Once the 50 kits were finished, they were packed up and shipped back to Project Helping using prepaid return labels.
From there, Project Helping delivers finished kits to nonprofits in its recipient network, so the Chemo Care kits reach people currently in treatment. Each kit gives someone going through chemo a few comforts during a hard stretch of their care. If your team is looking for a self-hosted, in-person build with a clear cause behind it, a Kynd Kit program can be set up in a similar way.
