Capital One Builds 500 Kits for a Veterans Affairs Hospital

August 17, 2026 Capital One

500 Capital One volunteers gathered in person on August 17, 2026 to build 500 Kynd Kits for a Veterans Affairs Hospital. The kits were built to bring comfort and support to veterans receiving care.

How it worked

With a group this size, Capital One ran a production line build. Instead of individual boxed kits, materials arrived in bulk and volunteers set up assembly stations, with each station adding one part as kits moved down the line. The event was self-hosted, with the Capital One team leading the build using Project Helping’s facilitator guide and printed kit instructions. A Project Helping program manager set up the program in advance, coordinating kit selection, shipping, and timeline so the 500 kits and all materials arrived ready to build. No customization was added to the kits. Once the build was complete, Capital One handled distribution themselves, delivering the finished kits directly to veterans in their community. After the event, the team received an impact report, and every kit carried a registration code so builders could see where their kit ended up.

The finished kits went straight from Capital One’s volunteers to veterans, offering comfort during their time in care. Programs like this show what a large in-person build can look like: a production line, a self-hosted team, and kits that reach people who need them without ever routing through a warehouse. Any team, large or small, can run a similar program built around a cause that matters to them.
