A team from Citi 829b8 came together for an in-person build day on June 13, 2026, assembling 100 Toys for Shelter Animals kits. Each kit was built to give shelter animals something to play with while they wait for a home.
How it worked
The team ran a self-hosted build, using Project Helping’s facilitator guide and step-by-step kit instructions to lead the session themselves. Each participant assembled complete kits from their own individual kit, so everyone could work at their own pace. A Project Helping program manager set up the program and confirmed the details ahead of time, and the kits arrived with everything the team needed to build, no extra prep required. Once the kits were finished, the team shipped them back to Project Helping using prepaid return labels.
From there, Project Helping delivers the kits to shelters through its nonprofit network. Each toy gives a sheltered animal something to play with and some comfort during an uncertain time. Teams looking for a simple, self-run build day can put together a program like this one in a few weeks.
