Datadog employees spent part of their workday building 30 Back to School Backpack kits on September 14, 2026. The kits will go to students who need school supplies to start the year ready.
How it worked
The team built in person, self-hosted, with each person assembling an individual kit from their own boxed materials. A Project Helping program manager set up the program and confirmed details ahead of the event, and the kits arrived with everything needed plus step-by-step instructions, so no extra planning was required. Once the backpacks were finished, Datadog shipped them back to Project Helping using prepaid return labels for distribution.
Project Helping will deliver the backpacks to students through its nonprofit network. Datadog employees have a way to see where their kits went once they register them. Any team can run a program like this one, whether it is a single afternoon or a larger event.
