L3Harris Builds 337 Toy Kits for Shelter Animals at Conference

July 20, 2026 – August 31, 2026 9am-5pm any day in the month of August ET L3Harris Technologies

L3Harris Technologies employees built 337 Toys for Shelter Animals kits during a conference this summer. The kits gave shelter animals something to play with while they wait for a home.

How it worked

The build ran as part of a larger conference, with individual kits assembled by each participant using their own boxed kit. The session was self-hosted, so the L3Harris team ran the build themselves using Project Helping’s facilitator guide and the step-by-step instructions included in every kit. A Project Helping program manager set up the program in advance, coordinating kit selection and shipping so everything arrived ready to build. Once the kits were finished, they were shipped back to Project Helping using prepaid return labels rather than distributed on site.

Because the kits went back to Project Helping, they will reach shelter animals through Project Helping’s nonprofit network rather than a single named partner. The toys give animals in shelters something familiar to hold onto during an uncertain stretch, and the build gave conference attendees a hands-on way to spend part of their time together doing something for a cause outside their own work. Teams looking to build something similar at a conference, meeting, or off-site can start with a short launch conversation and have a program running in a few weeks.
