L3Harris Technologies Builds 275 Comfort Bags for Ronald McDonald House

August 19, 2026 1-2PM (time may change depending on speaker confirmation) ET L3Harris Technologies

275 volunteers from L3Harris Technologies came together for an in-person build of Ronald McDonald House Comfort Bags, kits made to bring comfort to families staying at Ronald McDonald House. With 275 kits on the schedule, the team ran the build as a production line rather than assembling kits one by one.

How it worked

A Project Helping representative was on site to lead the build in person, guiding volunteers through each station of the production line. Materials arrived in bulk rather than as individual boxed kits, and each station added one part until the Comfort Bags were complete. The kits included customization specific to this build. Project Helping’s program manager set up the program details ahead of time and arranged shipping so everything volunteers needed was on hand for the event. Facilitator guidance and kit instructions came along with the materials, so the on-site host had what was needed to run the build smoothly. After the event, the finished kits shipped back to Project Helping using prepaid labels, and the team received an impact report on where their work ended up.

The finished Comfort Bags went back to Project Helping for delivery to nonprofits in its recipient network, where they will reach families at Ronald McDonald House. For a company the size of L3Harris Technologies, a production line format made it possible for 275 people to build a large volume of kits in one hosted session. Teams considering a similar in-person event can look at this as one way to bring a large group together around a single cause.
