Fifteen volunteers from Merck came together virtually to build Toys for Shelter Animals kits, a cause aimed at giving shelter animals something comforting while they wait for a home.
How it worked
The event ran as a virtual build. Kits shipped ahead of time to each participant, and a Project Helping host joined the video call to lead the group through assembling their individual kits. A Project Helping program manager set up the program, arranged shipping, and confirmed the details before build day, so the Merck team just had to show up and build. Once finished, the kits shipped back to Project Helping using prepaid labels for delivery to a nonprofit partner.
The finished toys will go to animals in shelters through Project Helping’s nonprofit network. Teams looking for a simple virtual build with a clear cause can run a program like this one.
