Okta1 built 5 Sensory Kits for foster youth as part of a conference on June 18, 2026. Each builder assembled an individual kit, working through the project as part of the larger event.
How it worked
The build was self-hosted, with the team running the session using Project Helping’s facilitator guide and printed kit instructions. Builders watched a Project Helping intro video before getting started, which covered the cause and the kit. A Project Helping program manager set up the program in advance and arranged for the kits to ship with everything needed to build. Once finished, the kits shipped back to Project Helping with prepaid labels for delivery to a nonprofit in the recipient network.
The finished Sensory Kits will go to foster youth through Project Helping’s nonprofit network, giving them a tool for comfort and grounding. Any team looking for a simple way to add volunteering to a conference can run a program like this one.
