Josie Boynton – Director of RSVP, Empowering Aging Program

I was born and raised in the Midwest and I came to Colorado to go to school at the University of Denver where I graduated with degrees in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience. I met my now husband in my first week at DU and he told me all about this cool little town that we was from, Walsenburg, CO. If living in Denver wasn’t enough for me to fall in love with the great state of Colorado, reveling in the shadow of the Spanish Peaks certainly was. Through my adult life, I have moved all over – from Palo Alto, California to Cambrai, France – and I learned just how world-class this state is.

The 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic was a clarifying moment in my life in the defining of my values. I wanted to invest taking care of the people and the communities around me. I started working with Spark the Change in 2021 as their Huerfano County Manager for the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). I became the Director of the RSVP in January of 2024. I love the opportunity to invest my time and energy every day as a resource and advocate for our rural Colorado communities.
