About Our Mental Wellness Program

Spark's Mental Wellness Program increases health equity by engaging skilled mental health volunteers to provide quality, accessible, and affordable mental health services to people experiencing barriers to care. Services include no-cost counseling for individuals, couples and families, support groups, community partner support, workforce development initiatives and continuing education opportunities for mental health professionals.​

$30 to Support Students

A $30 donation helps bring mental wellness tools and resources to schools and communities across Colorado. Every dollar donated goes toward supporting mental health access in Colorado.

Youth Task Force

Youth age 15-20 are invited to join our Youth Mental Wellness Task Force. This group comes together each month to discuss the mental health challenges of youth today and then work to implement various solutions to those challenges.

School-Based Volunteers

A: Spark the Change Colorado and Project Helping—two mental health-focused nonprofits—have united to do good together. Learn more about the merger here. Our programs serve everyone from youth to aging adults.

What is Spark by Project Helping's Statewide Mental Wellness Program?

A: The Mental Wellness Program (MWP) increases health equity by connecting skilled mental health volunteers with people facing barriers to care. We provide quality, accessible mental health services including free counseling for individuals, couples, and families; support groups; community partner support; workforce development initiatives; and continuing education for mental health professionals. Our tagline is “Promoting Mental Health. Fueled by Volunteerism.”

Who can volunteer in the Mental Wellness Program?

A: The Mental Wellness Program offers a variety of meaningful volunteer opportunities for individuals with different levels of experience and backgrounds in mental health and community service. We are seeking volunteers who are licensed mental health professionals or candidates for licensure in a DORA recognized mental health profession. We also work with graduate program interns in mental health professions. Eligible volunteers include:

  • Licensed Mental Health Clinicians
  • Graduate-Level Mental Health Interns
  • Post-Graduate Mental Health Candidates
  • General Volunteers & Wellness Advocates
  • Youth Volunteers (Ages 15–20)

What type of Graduate-Level Internships does Spark offer?

A: We offer three pathways for graduate students (MSW, counseling, psychology, or related fields) to complete meaningful field placements while advancing mental wellness across Colorado. At this time Internships are unpaid; however, students will gain access to the Mental Wellness Hub, free trainings, qualified supervision, and a supportive team.

Do you have any paid opportunities?

No, we only offer unpaid internships, however, if interns complete a total of 546 hours or more between September -June during a single school year, they become eligible to earn a $500 hours completion stipend. (only applicable to School-Based Internships)

What does partnership with the Mental Wellness Program accomplish?

A: Spark’s Mental Wellness Program works in partnership with nonprofits, service organizations and schools to enhance mental health support for our communities. We engage volunteers who are mental health professionals and connect them with partner organizations to increase the capacity of our partners to serve the mental health needs of their constituents.
