Spark’s Mental Wellness Program increases health equity by engaging skilled mental health volunteers to provide quality, accessible, and affordable mental health services to people experiencing barriers to care. Services include no-cost counseling for individuals, couples and families, support groups, community partner support, workforce development initiatives and continuing education opportunities for mental health professionals.
Spark powers two AmeriCorps Seniors Programs: The Senior Companion Program and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). These National Service programs promote the independence of older adults aging in their home as they continue to be vibrant, contributing members of our communities. Volunteers over the age of 55 make a local impact with Empowering Aging!
Our Spark Knowledge program offers a range of continuing education and training courses, either fee-based or free of charge. Our training and educational workshops encompass a wide range of subjects, from conventional mental health practices to how to engage volunteers to tips for volunteer board service.
Minoru Yasui was most well-known for his courageous stand during World War II, but his entire life was committed to the defense of human and civil rights, and justice for all. Volunteers are the heart of our community and are a precious resource to nonprofit organizations. The vital work of volunteers throughout the Denver metropolitan community is recognized in Yasui’s honor through the Minoru Yasui Community Volunteer Award (MYCVA). We partner with nonprofit organizations to provide a variety of opportunities to organizations and community members. Our Senior Companion, RSVP, and Mental Wellness Programs engage Volunteer Stations and Host Sites and provide volunteer support on-site.

We offer corporate volunteer experiences ranging from large-scale, in-person volunteering, to volunteer projects delivered anywhere in the world – like office spaces or convention centers – and everything in between. We work with you to provide the type of volunteer event your employees want to attend.
Kynd Kits are volunteer projects in a box. Everything you need to do a meaningful project for someone in need is delivered right to your door.
The VIP (Volunteer in Person) Program curates meaningful, social, and accessible volunteer programs in your local community. These events are hosted at and with our nonprofit community partners. Simply find an event that fits your schedule, sign up, and show up.
Spark’s Mental Wellness Program offers up to 10 free sessions of counseling to people experiencing barriers to accessing services. Common barriers include cost, lack of insurance and scarcity of providers. Counseling services are provided by highly vetted volunteer mental health professionals and are offered virtually. In-person services are available on a limited basis.

The Supervision and Workforce Development Initiative, housed under Spark’s Mental Wellness Program, is designed to address a critical need in the mental health field: providing accessible clinical supervision to aspiring mental health professionals, especially those facing financial barriers.
